Vacation!

This evening marks the start of my vacation. School won’t open again until February 26 so that means one week of fun! My family has made plans for said vacation which I’m looking forward to. I’ve been planning for a week or so now, bought a new PSP, GPS device, games, etc. We’ll be driving down to Tennessee and maybe North and South Carolina for friends and family. Hopefully I get to visit those breath-taking caves in Tennessee again, in 05, I went to Ruby Falls and the Lost Sea. That’s pretty much it for me, I’ll have my Macbook Pro with me so I’ll try to post here. I’ll need for the reports my instructors insisted on assigning.

If you have the week or so off, what do you plan to do?

Valentine’s Day…

As 100% of you probably know, tomorrow is Valentine’s Day! People are excited,in school, on tv, everywhere! I took a trip down to Wal-Mart and it was packed with teenage girls (Aren’t the guys suppose to do the buying?) and kids. I didn’t buy anything related to Valentine’s Day as I don’t have a valentine this year. Most people would see this as a burden, but I don’t have to stress over what to buy her!

Anyways, I should be studying for a Chemistry exam which the first thing tomorrow morning so I’ll leave you with this question:

Do you have a Valentine this year? If so, what are you getting him/her?

Ordered [another] PSP

A few months ago, my launch PSP started to fall apart. Text would appear warped, applications wouldn’t start up, etc. After two or three months of problems, it finally died. The power light would appear for about 30 seconds and then nothing, nada, zippo. I believe this is classified as a “brick”. What gets to me is the fact that I didn’t use any homebrew. Despite that fact, I placed an order on a much cooler (silver!) PSP from PlayAsia.

I paid $220 via Paypal, delivered in 3-5 days. Hopefully it’ll be here before I leave for vacation next Sunday.

Windows Vista 2009 Edition?

untitled.jpg

The sucessor to Windows Vista may very well be released as early as 2009, according to a recent article by PCWorld. Dissapointed, Ben Faith, corporate vice president of development for Windows operating systems, said “Then when we came back to it, we realized that there were incremental things that we wanted to do, and significant improvements that we wanted to make in Vista that we couldn’t deliver in one release.” This implies that the timeframe for Vista was a bit short (eventhough it was slated for a 2003 release). Addtionally, Faith said that we should expect it in about 2.5 years, “You can think roughly two, two-and-a-half years is a reasonable time frame that our partners can depend on and can work with,” he said. “That’s a good time frame for refresh.” The operating system in the works was codenamed “Vienna” but has now changed. Microsoft has not released the current name. Will they be playing catchup to OSX (Leopard) this time around also?

Saturday Songs

The first installment! Links to the songs in iTunes are provided.

What’s Hot in American Music

  • The Fratellis
  • fratllies album cover
Flathead – Featured in the latest iPod ad, this song makes me want to dance, just like the people in the advert.

    What’s Hot in Bollywood Music

  • Dhoom 2
  • Dhoom 2
Dil Laga Na – Though I have yet to see the film, I have listened to the soundtrack. It’s simply superb. Dil Laga Na stands out the most for me while My Name is Ali was alright.

That’s it for today! Hope you like my picks.

    Something about me…

For ages I have had the urge to make a blog and today, I fulfill that urge. Not that this is my first blog, I’ve made a horde of blogs but most, no, all have been abandoned due to my procrastination. Let’s hope this one changes things. As a long time Blogger user and first time WordPress user, I am a bit annoyed with the fact that I have to pay to apply my own CSS. It’s not much, so I’ll do it sometime in the future but for now, what you see is what you get. Enough of the rambling, on to the technical specifications:

    Brand: Patel (represent?)
    Model: Ravi
    Form Factor: Male
Memory: 15 years (though most internet goers assume 18+ years of virtual memory :P )
    Manufacturer: India
    Current Region: New England, US
    FSB: 7.6 trillion megahertz.

You may be wondering where the inspiration came from for the title of this blog. If you’re a blog junkie, “1337″, or just smart, you probably know about 9rules. There’s the inspiration. One of my good friends assisted me in sewing together the name so much credit to her.

I have also lined up a series of posts for some days of the week. I may obviously skip some days due to personal reasons but the plan is as follows:

Saturday: Saturday Songs | Songs that caught my ear, complete with direct links to iTunes. I’ll even post some Bollywood music for those are interested!

Tuesday: Snapshots | Some eye catching pictures I may tumble upon.

Friday: Friday Recommendations | Software suggestions for both Mac/PC (sometimes even Linux!)

    Hope you enjoy your visit(s).
